Welcome to Hub Bassett’s International Students Page
We know relocating internationally and transitioning to student life can be a big decision we want to make the process as easy as possible. To help you navigate this process, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most common questions about our apartments near UW Madison, lease terms, requirements, and more.
I’m an international student and do not have a US phone number. How do I contact you?
Hub Bassett has a WeChat and WhatsApp you can use to speak with one of our leasing agents. Our WeChat ID is Hubbassett. Our WhatsApp number is 608-419-1696.
What documents are required to sign a lease?
You’ll need to provide a form of ID, such as a passport number or VISA number. If you have a guarantor, they’ll need to provide the same information. For assistance, feel free to contact our front office by email or phone, or visit us during our office hours!
Do I need a guarantor or co-signer to qualify?
A guarantor or co-signer is not mandatory. If you don’t have one, you can enroll in the LEAP program, which helps students without access to a guarantor or security deposit. For just $43 per month, LEAP secures your space at Hub Madison Bassett without the need for an income/credit check and allows you to add a guarantor later if needed.

Yes, all residents have access to high-speed Wi-Fi, and every unit includes an ethernet port in each bedroom. The average Wi-Fi speed is approximately 200 Mbps for both downloads and uploads.
What are the roommate policies, and is there assistance with matching?
Hub Madison Bassett offers free roommate matching services! If space is available, you can be matched with your preferred roommates. If you don’t have specific roommates in mind, we’ll match you with other tenants based on your preferences for noise, cleanliness, and more. Please note that co-ed matching is not presumed, so genders will be matched together.
What are the safety and security measures in place?
At Hub Madison Bassett, our priority is the security of our residents. All entrances, garages, and elevators are electronically locked and require a key fob or electronic tag for access. We have surveillance cameras in hallways and amenities, along with an on-site security officer and 24-hour on-site staff. Each unit features an electronic lock that can be accessed via passcode or app, and we offer an on-call service for emergencies when 911 may not be necessary.

*Convenience fees for international and commercial credit and debit cards may vary.
What is MoneyGram and how does it work?
MoneyGram is a global payment service that allows you to send money without a traditional U.S. bank account, making it a popular option for international students. Here’s how it works:
- Find a location or go online – MoneyGram has thousands of agent locations worldwide (pharmacies, grocery stores, convenience stores) as well as an app and website at moneygram.com.
- Set up a payment – You’ll need your resident portal payment code or reference number (provided by our team), your name, and your payment amount.
- Pay in your local currency – If sending from abroad, MoneyGram handles the currency conversion so funds arrive in USD.
- Funds are applied to your account – Payments are typically processed within 1–2 business days.
What are the lease terms, and are there any penalties for early termination?
The lease starts on August 19th, 2026, and ends July 25th, 2027. If you need to terminate early, you must relet your space by finding someone to take over your lease and pay a $500 relet fee. If you cannot find a replacement, you’ll remain responsible for the lease.
